Uncaf FAQ (Understanding Decaf):
how much caffeine is in micro-dose?
micro-dose is formulated to have approximately 10% of the caffeine level of our regular house coffee blend. we combine coffee decaffeinated using the swiss water process with fully caffeinated specialty coffee, giving you a micro-dose of caffeine for days you need low caffeine - not no caffeine.
What country is your coffee from?
Our priority is sourcing a delicious coffee that is certified organic & fair trade while being explicitly processed by swiss water. While we have decaffeinated our own lots - this approach was proven difficult to maintain for a small company like ours. We purchase coffee seasonally for our uncaf project, meaning you get fresh crops & current vintages. We consciously source from cooperatives that play a positive role in coffee producing communities. Generally you can expect some fruit notes during the summer months & more chocolate-caramel notes during the cooler months.
does decaf coffee taste different?
decaf is often considered an afterthought in the coffee world. but why? We have found that when you start with a quality product you usually end with a quality product. sourcing an exceptional coffee crop remains especially true with the decaffeination process - we only settle for the good stuff.
Is all of the caffeine removed?
While most caffeine removal tactics use chemical solvents, the Swiss Water process does not. a measurable 99.99% of caffeine molecules are removed using nothing but their proprietary method utilizing heat, water & time resulting in a cleaner & more flavorful cup of coffee - sans caffeine.
Uncaf- The Zero is our 99.99% caffeine-free specialty coffee, made using the Swiss Water Process Utilizing their proprietary method of water, temperature & time rather than chemical solvents, the process removes caffeine while preserving the sweetness & character of the coffee. The result is a smooth, flavorful caffeine-free coffee made for people who love great coffee - just without the caffeine.
