Geisha - Finca Idealista - Washed Process

Finca Idealista, the flagship farm of Gold Mountain Coffee Growers, is a prime example of how to change the world through coffee.

Finca Idealista is a genuine collaboration of community and environment. Where machines can be used, people are intentionally hired to provide jobs where there tends to be a scarcity. Countless hours are spent hand-sorting using a black light to remove any defective beans. They are repeatedly run down a conveyor belt until the coffee is immaculate without any imperfections. Every pound of coffee sold from Finca Idealista gets re-invested back into the environment surrounding the farm - coffee is not even planted here… it is for the sole purpose of conservation so that the existing habitats remain intact. 

We continue to support Finca Idealista and its endeavors, and we’re proud to have sourced coffee from this farm for the 8th consecutive year. We have purchased every variety and process they produce including this Geisha, which has its own special story:

Last year we had the pleasure of working with a friend - Zach, who is still on the Reprise team behind the scenes. At the time he was a barista in our Chicago location after moving here from St. Louis. He intentionally chose to work at Reprise because in the previous year he had an internship on none other than Finca Idealista (where this coffee is grown). Idealista is constantly planting new varieties of coffee for their “coffee museum.” Zach had the pleasure of planting THIS Gesiha variety that we purchased the very first harvest - bringing new meaning behind our seed-to-cup motif.
